eat retreat

overview

In 2014, I had the pleasure of attending Eat Retreat, an annual retreat for food and agriculture professionals. This inclusive community of food folks spend a weekend participating in community-led programming, including farm visits, distillery tours, and niche cooking projects. Highlights of the weekend are the informational sessions, where participants get a chance to share their food knowledge with the group.

At the 2014 Andersen Valley Eat Retreat, I was invited to live sketch three of these informational sessions, led by experts in their fields. The Eat Retreat leaders wanted to have a record of some of the information conveyed, in a light-hearted and easily accessible manner. I created three watercolor informational diagrams, for an olive oil tasting, a talk about bees, and a live chocolate making demonstration. The resulting artwork was included in the 2014 Eat Retreat book.
