Edible San Francisco Magazine
OVERVIEW
For five years, I created illustrations to accompany the “Eat This Now” feature in Edible San Francisco magazine. Each quarter, the food writer chose 5 - 10 dishes that they recommended in San Francisco, and I provided illustrations to accompany. The art direction was minimal, and the original pitch idea was “an illustrated map of sorts.”
When we first started the series, it was a selection of 10 items, which I playfully illustrated with the food item and business logo. That style soon evolved into a grid, with a repeating pattern of circles. This allowed for a consistent design from issue to issue, all while changing out the specific items each quarter. When we went to 5 favorite dishes, I shifted the layout again, enlarging the San Francisco map, and specifically identifying the locations of each establishment.
