When the Covid-19 pandemic started in 2020, our cooperative preschool closed temporarily, but was back in limited form in the summer of 2020. The first year of the pandemic required strict adherence to San Francisco and California Public Health Department directives, which at the time were detailed and specific. As the pandemic progressed, and vaccines rolled out, directives from the public health departments became less direct and allowed for judgment calls and some flexibility for early childhood programs.

Our school had several immuno-compromised staff, children, and parents who served as additional teaching staff in the cooperative school structure. Because our school was small and community-focused, the parent-run Board of Directors determined our own evolving set of Health and Safety standards for families to follow. I created this document in my role as Board President and Interim Director in the summer of 2021. We continued to update and change our rules as the public health situation evolved, but this was the document sent out to families for their reference in the 2021/2022 school year. WEEKLY COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER

From May 2020 to August 2021, I sent out a weekly newsletter to the 60 family preschool community. I edited the Letter from the Executive Director, solicited information from committee heads and the community at large, collected and edited photographs, and wrote and organized the entire newsletter.
